One of his great-grandchildren, Stuart David Tveter, was also present. In addition to family members, Durland was honored by old friends from the Concord Wards of the LDS Church such as John and Thalia Cutt, Ray and Donna Enjaian, and Carol Penovich, as well as by former professional colleagues such as Harold Morris of Systron-Donner and Bruce Kaufman of Zeltex.
The birthday reception, held at the Denkinger Rd. LDS Church, was well planned and executed by Durland's daughter Kimberlee. Of particular note were eight poster-sized photo-montages, one for each decade of his life, hung around the reception hall and silently depicting Durland's life and times. His other children, grandchildren, and in-laws pitched in for both decoration and clean up.
After the reception, the family posed for a series of group photographs and the party retired to the home of Michael and Joanne Carney for pizza and more family talk.
